72m² private apartment in an existing building from the 80s

Herzliya, Israel

XS project, 2015

This interior design project reimagines a 72m² private apartment in an existing building from the 1980s, set in the vibrant coastal city of Herzliya, Israel. The concept draws deep inspiration from Israel’s unique interplay between urban development and natural landscapes, reflecting the inseparable relationship between the two. This connection is mirrored in the apartment’s design, where the warmth of nature and the energy of urban life are harmoniously blended.

The heart of this design lies in the kitchen, which serves as both the physical and metaphorical center of the space. Symbolizing the focal point of daily life, the kitchen is designed to be a functional yet inviting area that embodies the spirit of Israeli living—where family, food, and conversation converge.

The apartment’s layout maximizes its relatively compact size, with a focus on spatial efficiency and fluid transitions between living areas. Natural materials and a warm color palette evoke the surrounding landscape, while modern elements provide a sleek, urban touch. Every detail, from the choice of finishes to the arrangement of furnishings, reflects a thoughtful balance between comfort, style, and functionality.

By capturing the essence of Israel’s interconnected nature and urban spirit, this project creates a living space that is both rooted in tradition and designed for modern living.
